Why the 5th Won't be Taken Back
Some of you may have recently heard about the NBC 5 news report about Rosanna Pulido and her anonymous comments under the name Chicagolady on the Free Republic conservative message site. In light of the recent development of what those comments actually were, I cannot in good conscience back Ms. Pulido or her campaign. As much as I would like to see a Republican elected from the 5th during this special election, I don't believe it should be someone marred by questionable activities in online forums. This is not a disagreement with what stance on the core conservative issues she has, but more of how she portrayed some of them.
Candidates that have made comments bordering on racism do nothing good for the advancement of the Republican Party. On the contrary they set us back by giving fodder to the Democrats. For years the Democrats have tried to fool people into thinking that all Republicans are backward thinking racists and any little bit they can chomp on they exploit to prove this fallacy. Truth be told there are Republicans that are racist, but there are also Democrats that are racist. No party can insulate themselves from it because unfortunately racism is something that exists in America. Do I like it? No. That doesn't mean I need to excuse it or stand with it just so my party may have a chance at winning any type of political office.
This is not an endorsement of Democrat Machine candidate Mike Quiqley.
What this district and the State of Illinois needs is a Republican representative that can stand above the Democratic Political Machine and be free of controversy. I look forward to the 2010 midterms where hopefully the Illinois Republican Party can put forth and fully support a strong, viable candidate for the 5th Congressional District.

Hello!
On behalf of Rosanna supporters from the AIP, I actually thank you wholeheartedly for the specific and detailed feedback that you have given us. I don't know what happened between you and Tom Hoefling, but I know that he would encourage us to take you up on your suggestions. I sit at a computer all day (or night)(at home), so I have taken up Facebook and Twitter (I found you, didin't I?). The AIP Party thinks that the Internet is one of our best bets, but we are mostly self-taught, and need the type of guidance that you just gave us. You say that you have more suggestions--I look forward to receiving them (please contact me at lifepath@sbcglobal.net, or let me know how to reach you--you just withdrew from Rosanna's site). I have located others who support Rosanna through AIP, Facebook, or Twitter who have computer sophistication that I don't have, and I will do my best to pass along your info, as well as trying to utilize it myself.
Why AIP--you'll understand after Rosanna defeats Michael Quigley!

Anybody who labels Rosanna Pulido a racist needs to be removed from the Republican Party. This is utter nonsense.
Frankly I'm sick of Republicans being referred to as racists, when in fact the true racist throughout history are the Democrats.
For people to continue to allow racism to be the "high road" for Democrats and the low road for Republicans showcases Republican ignorance on multiple levels.
So I denounced "RightNotWrong", and any organization that allows the idea of racism being a Republican issue. Learn your history about Democrats, and stop throwing GREAT people like Rosanna Pulido under the bus, only so your organization can appear politically correct.

Kevin,
I think you took something away from the post that wasn't meant to be taken. I don't believe Ms. Pulido to be a racist, however I don't agree with how her message was put out on Free Republic by herself. In the post there is a common thread from the first to second paragraph, but the second paragraph is meant to be an independent point about how Dem's (which I agree with you on their history) have been able to make people believe that Republican's are racist by nature. I'm sick of that being the case, too.
As for throwing Ms. Pulido under the bus, I don't feel that is what I am doing. We all have a right to change our mind about why or who we support. In other posts I have outlined more about why I no longer support Ms. Pulido. I am under no obligation to grin and bare it just because someone is running as a Republican. I am not discouraging anyone from going out to vote on April 7th, either. In fact I encourage it. We all know the choices on the ballot and I hope people vote for which candidate they feel most accurately represents them.
Last, this is not a matter of being PC. It's a matter of what I believe in. We're all going to disagree at times on different things. This just so happens to be one thing we disagree on. I thank you for taking the time to read the post and comment.
Chris

Ms. Pulido says the Mexicans are the new Ku Klux Klan (w/ tan), and you don't believe she's a racist? Really?
Looking forward to your grinning and baring it, tho
