Mathews Hardballing Himself

Is this Mathews' way of trying to turn this man into a crack pot?  The protester is actually doing very well for being on a Cable TV Show for the first time where he responds to questions without actually seeing who he is talking to.

First off, you only hear about "people that bring guns to a "Presidential event" because they had malice in their heart and mind then acted on it.  You don't hear about those that have brought guns to those Presidential events that had no intent or minuscule thought to inflict harm because they did not act in that way.

Second, did Mathews actually say "God Damn" on a prime time broadcast?  I believe he did.  The proof is right there.  Isn't that against FCC broadcasting regulations?  Who knows these days?  I understand news outlets can get away with that when they play a video of someone like, oh, I don't know, Rev. Wright, because they are reporting the news...but a blatant use of that phrase seems odd to me.  Don't get me wrong.  If washing my mouth out with soap for how I speak at times was mandatory I would buy stock in Dove, Dial, Irish Spring or any other bar soap maker.  In this instance however, it seemed to be an aggressive baiting of the protester.

Third, Mathews rails on the sign the man carried that quoted Thomas Jefferson.  I see where Mathews is going with this.  He wants to paint this man as a gun totting lunatic.  However, if you look at it from a different angle, Mathews is inadvertently equating Obama to a tyrant through his treatment and line of questioning about this man's political opinions and legally carrying a gun to this Presidential event.   Basically, Mathews wanted this man to say that President Obama is a tyrant so he can then use it later to slam anyone with similar beliefs.  Who's fear mongering now?

Finally, Mathews could not break this man.  William Kostrich (sp?).  He did a great job holding his own.  And to me, I feel Mathews went fishing and came home without a catch.

Is Chris Matthews the school principal trying to chastise the poor, ignorant, 2nd amendment supporter? Or maybe he just wants to play Mommy. The guest did a pretty good job of being polite, despite Matthews' setting some verbal traps that were fortunately avoided. another reason I don't watch that show!
